A Case of Annular Elastolytic Giant Cell Granuloma

Abstract

|
We reported a case of an annular elastolytic giant cell granuloma in a 61-year-old male on this neck, the V area of his chest and scapular area. He had several irregular shaped patches. ranging in size from 4 to 19cm. the lesion showed ring-like
forms
with an serpiginous elevated, erythematous border and a slightly depressed, depigmented center. In the histopathological sections taken from elevated marginal area of the lesion, a granulomatous infiltration composed of numerous multinucleated
giant
cells. lymphocytes and histiocytes was observed in the dermis. Verhoeff-van Gieson staining showed the disappearence of the elastic fibers secondary to being engulfed by the giant cells. (Kor J Dermatol 1992 ; 30 (1) : 99-102)
